Golf Outing and Food Drive Sponsored by Shield's Restaurant Nets $2,600 and Hundreds of Dollars of Food Donations
TROY, MI – Shield’s Restaurant and Pizzeria hosted its first ever golf outing on August 25, 2008, at Twin Lakes Golf Club to benefit Lighthouse of Oakland County. A total of $2,600.00 in cash was raised, plus an additional ten 60-pound bins of non-perishable foods worth several hundred dollars were donated by Shield’s customers.
Lighthouse of Oakland County feeds between 600 – 900 Oakland County families each month depending on requests and available supplies. The summer months pose a problem for Lighthouse and families in need as there is typically a drop off in the amount of donations received.
“I continue to be amazed by the tremendous generosity of our customers, especially in this economy,” says Andoni. “People are struggling with high gas prices and layoffs, yet the donations kept coming. It shows you what can be accomplished if we all work together.”
Shield’s is a strong community supporter that continues to contribute charitable organizations, schools and churches. For more information and interviews, please contact Paul Andoni at 248/637-3131.
